[de]construction

IdeaFestival is an annual event experience that brings together leading thinkers in varied disciplines like science, art, film, food, technology, writing, humanitarianism, and other walks of life.  Over the course of four days every autumn, IdeaFestival takes physical form in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. This event is for anyone, irrespective of any demographic, to collaborate and be inspired to think differently.  The result of this is an environment that not only proves to be a disruptive catalyst for innovation, but also cultivates valuable relationships through the intermingling of diverse topics and backgrounds.

In 2007, I was invited to curate an exhibition of my Berlin Wall project as a part of the Idea Festival.  I decided to produce an immersive experience of transparent & opaque walls in which the viewer walked through a progression of video projections. The video content included still images of the art of the Berlin Wall, testimonies from Berlin residents, and reflections of what Walls mean in people lives.  The viewer would physically absorb the video projections and simultaneously cast shadows throughout the exhibit as they progressed through the installation.
